Five four-star hotels are competing on the market. The hotels are independent business units, but they are connected to big international hotel chains through ownership and other contracts. They have two main business activities, for one, they provide accommodation, and for the second, they provide other additional services. To go into detail, they deal with: 1. accommodation, 2. catering, 3. bar, 4. conference rooms, 5. sports and fitness facilities, 6. leasing retail facilities, 7. agency and commission activities for travel agencies program organizers. In the game, the students can set the prices for each product range, and they also need to provide the technological conditions and workforce needed for them. A segment of the market is given as they belong to a chain, but the hotels should also directly compete with each other on the local market.

How SnowHotel simulation software works:

  • The students form groups and take over the management of the virtual hotel created by the simulation software.
  • The virtual hotel is managed by making strategic decisions for every quarter of a year. The software gives a written feedback about the results of the decisions, and it also shows the important economic indicators (profit, Cash flow, traffic,…) on a graph.
  • The software settings can be modified in various ways based on different demands, purchase prices, the wage flexibility, credit conditions and a number of other factors.
  • The software can simulate up to 12 periods.

  • The simulation creates an opportunity for students to put their basic knowledge in hotel management to the test, and get an insight into the strategic questions of the operation and management of a hotel.
  • The structure of the program helps to synthesize and put into practice the hotel management and turistic knowledge of students.
  • SnowHotel requires the proper operation of a number of factors, which characterizes the business world in general. Careful planning is essential to be successful in this simulation.
  • The game challenges and develops analytical skills, as students are required to find the data they need from various financial and market research reports (for example balance sheets, income statements, market research).
  • As a result, just like in real life, effective teamwork is essential to successfully complete the game.

Licensing conditions:

  • The duration of the license: 5 years from signing the contract
  • A program can only be used for education purposes and within your own institution, but it can be used in multiple work stations without paying extra fees.
  • The license fee can be paid in one sum, or in multiple instalments (which means 40% of the fee upfront, and according to the agreement, semi-annual or monthly deposits.)
